Vicinity of the Island of Vir

Otok Vir - plažaVir is one of the 300 islands of Zadar archipelago, located 25 km northwest of Zadar. It is located in northwestern part of Dalmatia and has lenght of 10 km and width of 4 km. Island of Vir counts 300 sunny days per year, mean temperature in July is 25 °C and an evening breeze from Velebit guarantees a pleasant dream.

This type of climate makes Vir an deal destination for lovers of sailing and surfing. There are 20 km of trails for mountain – biking lovers. You can also find the mud for treating rheumatic diseases on some beaches, especialy in the bay Spavac, near the old Venetian fortress Kastelina.

Beaches are mostly sand and gravel with crystal clear sea and pine forests make this island an ideal place to enjoy a holiday with your family. Vir has all the advantages of an island – a clean sea, abundance of beaches and it is also connected to mainland with a bridge.

Near is the ancient royal city of Nin with the smallest cathedral in the world and 3 000 years old city of Zadar (located 20 minutes drive from Vir), which abounds in historical monuments.
